Smyril Line opens a hotel in Skálavík

Smyril Line has accepted an offer to lease Skálavík Conference and Recreation Centre

Smyril Line has accepted an offer to lease Skálavík Conference and Recreation Centre and convert it into a new hotel called Hotel Skálavík

The owners of Skálavík Conference and Recreation Centre recently contacted Smyril Line to enquire about transferring management of the Centre to Smyril Line. A lease agreement has just been drawn up and Smyril Line is delighted to announce that it will soon be running the centre as a hotel.

Smyril Line will take over on March 23 and will be offering accommodation to both local and international travellers.

Hotel Skálavík is new and in superb condition. The hotel offers 25 rooms in addition to meeting rooms, a restaurant, function room, cinema and a whole range of conference facilities. Two of the big rooms can even be joined, which means the hotel has the capacity to host up to 500 people at a single event.

Smyril Line’s CEO Rúni Vang Poulsen welcomes the collaboration. He believes it has great potential:

“With Hotel Skálavík we can offer a superbly kept modern hotel in one of the most beautiful areas of the Faroes.  Sandoy island is truly unique. It boasts natural gems such as Søltuvík, culture with, for example, the Sandur Art Museum and it even has one of the best beaches in the country.

We already have a robust extended sales network, both in the Faroes and abroad, so we are well equipped to embark on this project. We have 32 years of experience in international sales and marketing and we have sales offices in the Faroes, Denmark, Iceland and Germany. In addition, Smyril Line works closely with travel agents throughout Scandinavia and further south in Europe.”

Smyril Line is now preparing sales materials, such as a new website with a user-friendly sales feature.  We expect these materials to be completed in about two weeks.
