Getting to and from Seyðisfjörður
Getting around Iceland and travelling to and from Seyðisfjörður is easy, though travellers should always take precautions.
Seyðisfjörður is located on the east side of Iceland, and the closest town to Seyðisfjörður is Egilsstaðir. Please find information about what to do, where to stay etc in the port town here.
Seyðisfjörður is not only the gateway to Iceland but also a charming town known for its colourful wooden houses and art scene. Visitors can enjoy a short walk around the fjord, visit local cafés, or drive along the scenic mountain road Fjarðarheiði to Egilsstaðir, where you’ll find shops, restaurants, and connections to other parts of Iceland.
The car is the most common mode of transport and car rental agencies can be found in most major towns.
Beware that Iceland’s beautiful and rugged landscape also contains some difficulties for the driver. Drive carefully and monitor the weather forecast, especially during winter.
