Whale Watching, Húsavík:

Experience the original Húsavík Whale Watching tour that has given the town the reputation of being Europe's whale watching capital. Enjoy the magnificent wildlife and stunning scenery aboard a renovated traditional fishing boat. The boats are made of oak, with fuel efficient and silent diesel engines thus being friendly to the environment. The boats are all specially equipped and fulfill all requirements for whale watching.

Vatnajökull skidoo tour incl. jeep transfer (2 pers. on skidoo):

At the southern edge of Langjokull, Europe's second largest glacier, there is a hut, from where snow scooter trips can be made.  This is, however, quite high up, and the track that leads there is steep, winding and narrow. It is only possible to drive up there in a good jeep, not in a normal car! The tour is with jeep transport to and from the mountain hut at the edge of the glacier. The drive is a magnificent adventure, and the visit on the glacier itself, with the exciting snow scooter drive 5 km into the glacier, is an absolute highlight of every holiday.  

Duration: 1 hour on snow scooter, total 3½ hours.

Comments: Driver needs a valid driver’s license to drive a snow scooter.

Clothing: Warm clothes, fleece or wool jumper and good shoes. Operator provides overalls, gloves and helmets. Snow shoes are available.

River Rafting Varmahlíð, West:

From Varmahlíð a bus goes to Vesturdalur valley (about 30-40 min.). The 2 hour rafting takes you through a variety of rapids, and is a perfect way for beginners to learn the skills of rafting.  The river is grade 3. Half-way down, you stop for refreshments and can sample some hot cocoa made with hot spring water that bubbles up on the riverbank. If conditions allow, you can also try some cliff jumping! The tour ends on the calm waters of the Héraðsvötn River, where you can try some floating and swimming before the boats are hauled up and you return to Varmahlíð. All participants are provided with a dry-suit, safety vest and helmet. The tour starts from Varmahlíð village.

Lava tour horseback riding, Hafnarfjörður:

An adventurous ride from a Riding Centre into the lava fields surrounding Mt. Helgafell volcano, or to Lake Hvaleyrarvatn and into the Kaldársel area. It is possible to make the riding tour in the morning, and have lunch afterwards, or to have lunch first and ride after that, or to go riding only. 

Duration: ± 1½  hours horseback riding.

Included: Riding helmet, rainwear or a warm outfit during the ride, gloves, boots and English speaking guidance. 

What to wear: You should be ready for all kinds of weather as it can change very quickly.
