Hotel Tórshavn - Enchanting view of the harbour

The hotel is located in the city centre, with the harbour in the front and the Town Hall Square in the back. Hotel Tórshavn opened its doors in 1923. Even though the Faroe Islands also felt the waves of the economical crisis throughout the whole world in the late 20-ies, the hotel managed to keep its head above and survive the crisis. In 2007 the hotel went through a total renovation and changed from being a seamen’s’ home to being a city hotel in modern design.
Hotel Hafnia - in the historical part of town
From the hotel’s roof terrace, there is a unique panoramic view over the whole town and harbour. In the 30's and 40's Christian Restorff rented out rooms on their family estate on a yearly basis. This ceased in 1950 when Mr. Restorff decided to demolish the estate and build a hotel in its place. In 1951 the hotel opened and was named Hafnia - which is latin for "harbour". All through the 50's, 60's and 70's Hotel Hafnia expanded into its present position as one of the foremost hotels in The Faroe Islands. Mr. Restorff insisted on Hotel Hafnia being unsurpassed by Faroese standards. He was successful in acheving this. The hotel is full of atmosphere and the staff team is doing theire outermost best to keep it that way.
