The year 2013 was yet a year of improvement for Smyril Line.
The year 2013 was yet a year of improvement for Smyril Line, but first of all 2013 was the year when the company consolidated its operation and financial position.
The result for 2013 was a profit of DKK 32,2 million, which is roughly DKK 20 million better than in 2012.
A persistent increase in sales is the main reason for the better result as well as savings have made the operation of the company considerably more economic in 2013 than in the years before 2011.
There has been an increase in ticket sales of 3%, and with an average reduction of 9%, we have had approximately 13% more passengers traveling with Norrøna in 2013 compared to 2012.
The increase in numbers of passengers resulted in higher onboard sales. The sale per passenger increased by 3%, which resulted in an increase of the total onboard sales of 16%.
One of the main goals for 2013 was improving and increasing the level of service on board Norrøna. This has mainly been achieved and is probably one of the reasons why we see an improvement in the sales onboard. At the same time our customer satisfaction analysis shows that our costumers experience a higher level of service compared to previous years. This of course is satisfying but at the same time we can state that we have not reached our target yet and that there are challenges ahead. Therefore we will continue developing new offers and services so that our costumers continuously will feel the improvements concerning the level of service on board Norrøna.
Good future potential
There are always challenges ahead, but in short it can be said that in spite of these challenges we expect that the company has good future possibilities. The main reason is that the company’s financial situation has been stabilized and that the company now has the financial strenght to look forward.
